The international programme of Renault
„Safety and Mobility for All” teaches the youngest students
on safe behavior on the road and care for the environment
On November 3rd in Sofia, the Renault's International Programme for the training of the youngest students in safe behaviour on the roads started in Bulgaria. This year the program introduces kids and concepts related to the environment – renewable energy, recycling, alternative modes of transport.
The initiative is a direct descendant of “Safety for All” program which was transformed in the autumn of 2011 into "Safety and Mobility for All". On November 3rd in 119th Secondary School “Acad. Michail Arnaudov” Sofia, principals and teachers from the region had the opportunity to get acquaint with the news on the program and with the new teaching materials distributed by Renault for free. In December the students from large and small Bulgarian towns received the requested quantities and the students started learning from them.
The main changes in the teaching materials are two: A second module “Mobility for all” is added to the existing “Safety for all”. The new module is targeted at the younger students and provides information about wind, sun and hydro energy, recycling, alternative means of transport and other useful and important for our society concepts. The second change is the extended age range of the program. This is the first year which includes the developed from French specialists and teachers materials specifically designed for two separate age groups covering more classes. All students between 1st and 4th grade included can learn with interactive methods. Specific asks and games increase the children’s interest and give them the opportunity to discover themselves their surrounding world and to feel safe on the road. Traditionally the final stage of the initiative is the international competition for child drawing, which gives the children opportunity to share in an easy for them way all they have learned in class and express their ideas on the subject on road safety and the environmental responsibility. The finalists in the national competition will participate in the International meeting of the Finalists in Disneyland Paris in June 2012 where they will meet their coevals from all participating countries. In 2011 the program "Safety and Mobility for All" of Renault became 10 years old and started its fifth edition for Bulgaria. The program is part of Renault’s activities for improving the safety on the roads, safer cars and more responsible drivers and pedestrians. Due to its international coverage the program is a partner of the UN’s initiative “Decade of Action for Road Safety” and on national level it is supported by Sofia Municipality, council for “Road Safety of the Children” and the French Cultural Institute in Bulgaria.
„Safety and Mobility for All” of Renault awarded 30 Bulgarian children
winners of the competition for the best drawing.
On 18th April, at a special ceremony in Sofia, the winners of children's drawing contest relating to the International Programme of Renault "Safety and Mobility for All" were announced. 12 students, whose paintings took the first places, won the grand prize - visiting the International Meeting of the finalists from all participating countries, which traditionally takes place in Disneyland, Paris. The themes of the competition were related to road safety and responsible attitude towards the environment. Renault programme is held for the sixth time in Bulgaria and for the 11th time in the world. Since its creation, it teaches the youngest road users to understand the rules and to have responsible driving behaviour. This year we have added a second focus - respect for the environment and nature conservation. The announcement of the awards has become a small celebration in which students from 1st to 4th grades made different signs, shared what they learned from their available teaching materials during the year of the programme and were specially awarded from Renault. Within their own clear and honest language, the young students were talking about solar, wind and hydro power, recycling and wastewater treatment. They explained the rules for travelling in a car, riding a bicycle and pedestrian traffic safety. Among the finalists there were representatives from both Sofia schools and schools from major cities such as Varna, Rousse, Plovdiv and Blagoevgrad. Many small settlements have expressed interest and participated in the programme and even they took the first places. The young artists from “Hristo Botev” Secondary school, Vulkosel Village together with their peers from 138th “Vasil Zlatarski” School, Sofia, “Petur Beron” Primary School, Sofia and “Ivan Vazov” Primary School, Rousse will meet the winners from around the world and will spend three days in fun and useful games in Disneyland. This sixth edition of the programme reached a record of 22,000 students from 100 schools in 32 Bulgarian towns and villages. It attracted the support of the "Forest" organization that concentrates its efforts in raising the awareness of various strata of our society on how to responsibly towards our environment and to ourselves.
